Shipshewana Quilt Fest 2015

Posted on

I attended the 2015 Shipshewana Quilt Fest once again and Scott was able to go with me this time. The grandparents watched Madison so we had a few days away which we needed so bad! The Quilt Fest was fantastic as always and Scott kept himself busy either working or looking at motorcycles – this time a HARLEY. I’m afraid it may have bitten him because he took it for a test drive and I can say he’s pretty obsessed with it right now!

It was raining when we got there early Thursday morning and I stood in line for Schoolhouse in the rain along with several hundred other crazy women. Once we got inside it was a lot of fun. I took quite a few sessions and of course the lunch they fed us was yummy.

I took a class from Pam Holland on Friday. The class used fabric markers and we traced a design, then colored it with the markers and then quilted it. Mine isn’t finished (ahead more than the picture) but it was a lot of fun. Definitely out of my comfort zone but fun.

We also went to the quilt show as well as participated in the shop hop. I love driving around the country there. never get tired of seeing the beautiful countryside.

I got to sew on this beauty during class.

We got to sit inside the buggy at Essenhaus! As many times as we have eaten there this is the FIRST time we have been able to sit in the buggy. It was fun!!

Yoders added a quilt square to the side of their building this year.

Scott test rode a Harley while I was out quilting – I am afraid what might happen now!

We were so sad to leave but we will be back next year!

Back again, making our way down the street

We loved Pentwater so much we decided to go back. It was a little cloudy but a still a great day for a ride. We went through Fremont and stopped at Sandy’s Harley Davidson. After getting to Pentwater we ate at Gull Landing this time which is just down the street from The Brown Bear. They have lots of outdoor seating. We ate perch and it was delicious. We will definitely be back here.

We were able to park just down the street from the restaurant.

Another great day. We did 152 miles today.

A Quilt Shop, Lighthouses and Pentwater – Where have you been all my life?

We took out on the Ducati on a beautiful Saturday morning and headed west. We ended up in Montague and happened to drive by a quilt shop, Quilted Memories outside Montague. I pointed it out and Scott turned around! What a guy! It was a very nice shop and I picked up a few things – definitely a place to stop again.

We made our way to Silver Lake through the back roads. We had not been here for years and years. It hasn’t changed too much and the lake itself is as pretty as ever.

We continued on the backroads and stopped at a roadside park along side Lake Michigan. Beautiful place. Definitely could come back here and swim some day.

We made our way on down the road to Pentwater. Why we haven’t been here before I have NO idea! We rode to Pentwater State Park and walked out to the lighthouse at the end of the channel. So beautiful!

We got back on the bike and made our way into town. Such a cute town! We parked alongside several other bikes and ate at The Brown Bear. We got to sit outside and look out over the channel. Such a beautiful view.

We reluctantly headed home but we will be back. I can’t believe it took us 16 years to actually get to Pentwater. We did 185 miles. Such a perfect day to be on the bike and a perfect ride! Can’t wait to do it again.
